Gimmick Tour-Rally

We are presenting you with a twisty up and down tour-rally through San Diego city and county that will expose you to the rich history, culture and progressive development of this area.  The first European explorers to reach California landed here in San Diego.  The first California settlements and missions were established here.  The natural harbor, so attractive to those early settlers, brought trade and development and 400 years later, during the 1930s and 40s, also brought the U.S. Navy, becoming the headquarters for the Pacific Fleet. Following WWII, our wonderful Mediterranean climate has attracted tens of thousands of tourists annually to this expanding destination resort.

The tour-rally will cover approximately 90 miles, should require about 3 1/2 hours and presents a list of questions for you to answer along the way.  The questions are designed to gently educate and amuse.  The route, featuring as many “Porsche roads” as we could fit-in, is designed to expose you to the beachfront and its surfer-dudes, the historically influenced California Rancho residential area, the older hill and valley rural environment and the brand new Native American gambling-resorts.  You will have time to enjoy the scenery as this is a mildly-competitive event.  By being here and participating you are all winners.

Finally, a cautionary note, we anticipate there will be many participant cars on the route, so don’t run over each other.  This is a fun drive, not a race.  Be alert, drive safe and have fun.

Note:  PCA insurance restrictions prohibit participation by anyone that is NOT registered.  Thus, you cannot have a friend or family member, adult or minor, “ride along” unless they are registered.  There will be no exceptions.
