Uncle Sam and the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce need you!

The Chamber will be hosting its 2nd Patriotic Rally: Car Show & BBQ for Camp Pendleton’s School of Infantry (SOI) students on July 30, 2006. You may be unaware of SOI, a training division at Camp Pendleton, where young men in the United State Marine Corps come to learn the advance infantry skills. Due to their intense 9-week training schedule, these young Marines are not permitted to leave the base. Ninety percent of these young Marines will go to Iraq once they finish training at SOI. The Carlsbad Chamber and its Armed Services Committee want to show their appreciation for what these young Marines are doing, and decided to say “thank you” by giving them a celebration with classic cars, civilian food, entertainment, and lots of gifts. Last year with support from generous companies like yours, we were able to give dozens of prizes including long-distance phone cards, iPod’s, sporting gear, multi-tools, and even a premium paintball gun and outfit.

The Committee asks for your help to give these young Marines a “thank you” to remember. We would love for your club to bring out some of its cars to the event. The event has no charge for the Marine’s or the car guys. We provide coffee in the morning and a hot dog in the afternoon. If anyone in your club is interested, please have them fill out the attached form and send it back.

If you have any further questions, or concerns regarding this event, please contact, Ted Owen, President/CEO or Michael Babowal, Director of Government Affairs at the Carlsbad Chamber (760) 931-8400, or Frank Hutchins, Chairman of the Armed Services Committee at (760) 518-7531.

Cayenne Off Road Tour

The Cayenne Off Road Tour in October was a big success, despite the weather and the delays. We learned that it was a bit long for some folks. And we heard that you wanted more tours. We have another one. Sunday, January 15, 8:30 AM Similar but not identical format.

La Jolla Audio, a big supporter of the Region, is sponsoring this one. Meet at Dudley's Bakery parking lot, in Santa Ysabelle, which is between Ramona and Julian. You can purchase take-out breakfast there. Two off road drives in Anza Borrego Park. Lunch stop scheduled.

This will be an all day event, but shorter than last time. BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH AND DRINKS. Folding chairs suggested. Again, Cayenne's get priority, but other high clearance 4x4 SUV's okay, driven by PCA members. 4x4 mandatory. We had one 4x2 last time and it created safety concerns.

Complete and return The Entry Flyer ASAP via Fax or snail mail. Tell your friends! Cecelia and Vince Knauf Cayenne Events Coordinators 4860 Louise Dr San Diego, CA 92115 h 619 287 4334 f 619 287 6591
